Obi-Wan Kenobi
I was so excited for the show. Obviously my expectations weren’t over the top but I thought that since everyone was so hyped for it, Disney would so much care into it that it would be perfect. As you can tell from my rating, I was wrong.
The number one thing that they did wrong was mess up their target audience. Because it features Ewan McGregor as Obi-wan Kenobi, the show was obviously going to appeal to those who grew up watching the prequels. Those people are now millennials. Instead, the target audience was definitely intended to be little kids. You just need to watch one Leia chase scene. I mean come on. I never cringed so hard in my life before. To be honest, I thought they were just people sent from the the building to entertain Leia. I didn’t actually believe it was a genuine kidnapping until midway through the chase. And just for the record, there are plenty of other chase scenes.
In addition, the acting is extremely poor… from everybody. There is literally not one single good performance from anyone. The delivery of the performances felt fake and forced. It compared nothing to the original trilogy.
However, what I probably despise the most is that it completely contradicts the film, “Star Wars.” In Star Wars (some call it A New Hope), Darth Vader says the line, “When I left you, I was but the learner. Now I am the master.” Beforehand, it obviously mentioned the battle in Revenge of the Sith, since Obi-wan still taught Anakin a lesson about the high ground. However, this changes all of that. During the fight, Darth wasn’t the “learner” and Kenobi wasn’t “the master.” Basically, I hate how it creates inconsistencies with IV, which is the second best Star Wars film, only behind Empire of course.
