Django Unchained
A pretty good movie overall. The opening half feels a little all over the place and random at some points but it's still decent enough. The movie ofcourse picks up instantly once Leo enters. From the second Leonardo Di Caprio enters the movie to the second he dies, this movie is really fucking good. Leo drops a generational fucking acting performance, and his character just elevated the film to a whole different level.
Acting wise Jamie Foxx was good, Samuel L Jackson was great, but as I said Leo on just a different level. Candie just elevates the movie and gives this uneasy feeling the whole time whenever he's with Django and Schulz, it's like you're waiting for the inevitable explosion and it's handled incredibly well.
The movie again goes back to being like decent once Candie dies, it again goes to all over the place, random, almost ridiculous at this point again after the death. Like Django surrenders at the big house, then you just cut to a scene of him hung upside down, no explanations or anything, then when he's being taken to the people he's being sold to next he pulls off that dumbass plan which is honestly just ridiculous, like the slavers literally gave him a gun, it's very convenient. The ending i liked though, thought it was cool.
One other thing i liked was the music, whenever there was background music it was really damn good.
Now for complaints, again, the movie before, aswell as after Leo just feels in a different tone to when Leo was there, it feels less serious, more ridiculous, like it doesn't even take itself seriously. Like why does King, the partner and second mc of the movie die and there's no emotional scene or even a fucking reaction from Django and it instantly just goes to a goofy action scene. Like I wanna see Django react to his only partners death in front of his eyes. Also before Candie the whole charging in for Django and King with those masks through which you can't see bit was again, ridiculous and non serious.
Overall, this movie is HEAVILY carried by Leonardo Di Caprio. I would literally divide it in two halves, one is the movie with Leo, one is without Leo. The part with Leo is really really amazing, and the parts without Leo are still good but nothing insane
