Nightcrawler

Once again watching this movie only for my class except this time I actually enjoyed it, as I already watched this movie once I knew it was good seeing as I gave it 4 stars, but honestly, I think I was underrating it heavily as this movie is much better than I remember.
Most of this movie's ember is credited to Gyllenhaal, he is quickly becoming one of my favorite live action actors and I keep remembering why, his passionate performances and jaw dropping scenes have so much life and just as much dread, making them feel so raw and grounded. While I appreciate the emotional and loud scenes of him I really like his more quiet and meticulous scenes in this one, they leap off the screen as they hypnotize you and allow to to sink into the movie. This character allowed for him to really give it his all, you truly believe he is this terrible person and even though you come to likw him you never come to fully understand him, while there is that distance there is still a human understanding we all share that makes him hit so well.
The action is so unique in this movie, staying true to the core of this movie it focuses on camerawork and tension, staying very low for the most part but high when it mattered, I think the choice to keep basically the climax of this movie almost silent was excellent, it rooted the themes into your vision and gave a moment not worth missing, that final sequence was just incredible.
The score was electrifying, so funky yet so intentional with its notes, it combines the inner image of Lou's mind with his career and the result is something out of this world, very much carries several scenes, especially the conclusion and monologues.
All around while wasn't my first choice I am glad I got a rewatch in because it needed a real review and a serious rescore.
