Personal Shopper
It's pretty amazing filmmaking when a majority of a film's dialogue is over a text conversation and it's still totally spellbinding and tense. Personal Shopper is a deeply intimate (while simultaneously and deliberately cryptic) horror film. Reminded more of films like Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Pulse than anything else in that it is deep in metaphor about how we connect with other people, (live or dead, digitally or spiritually, etc) while having enough sense to keep some of it oblique.
Kristen Stewart delivers a nuanced and naturalistic performance that communicates so much with so few spoken lines. I love her.
