Pride & Prejudice
This is everything everyone said it was. I honestly wish I read the book first but I decided against it on a very spontaneous decision to watch this. I was thoroughly impressed by this. I love romantic drama as much as the next guy but this really put me on my ass. It puts the unfortunate truth of the times in perspective for you. Women were pawned off by their family to the highest bidder in exchange for generational wealth essentially. I hated Mrs. Bennet with a passion in this film and I have yet to see Judi Dench in a role where she isn’t an absolute bitch most of the time. Now the plot is what really had me so interested. The scenery and cinematography here were surprisingly good. I also love the way the film highlights the subtleties in the mannerisms of all the characters but Mr. Darcy in particular. The hand gesture and the stuttering were on point and Matthew Macfayden put on a clinic. Keira Knightley was also very good in her role as the star but I think Matthew stole the show. The ending is perfect to this film and I WILL be watching again. Probably soon.
