Rope
This is my first rewatch of Hitchcock’s best. I wasn’t as impressed as I was the first time around but I was very close. This kind of film where it takes place in real time is timeless but many of the cuts are incredibly obvious although the sound and acting through the cuts don’t skip a beat at all. This time around the dialogue also felt a little bit more forced but it was still an amazing script nonetheless. I think this film as a whole was just limited by its era. I think, given the proper equipment and technology, Hitchcock could have made this the best movie of all time without a doubt. And I still think this film is way ahead of its time and I still think it is one of the best films ever made anyway. But the flaws started to show through a little on rewatch. I’m still dazzled and I still love the concept and the innovation. Still 5 stars for me.
