Yes this movie is pretentious, yes it leans into the idea of eating the rich a near excessive amount, but I simply do not care. I love this movie, it’s such a great time. The cinematography is great and the lighting works wonders, it’s a really nice looking film. The comedy in this is also genuinely solid and I really like how much ridiculous stuff is going on simultaneously during multiple scenes in this movie. Anya Taylor Joy delivers a really great performance in a really great film, I don’t see what’s not to like. Maybe the lack of subtlety is what throws people off but I think a blatant message can work too and in my opinion, it absolutely does here.
