Dune
Everything I wished for and more.
The love letter to this movie I am about to write in the days to come, I am so sorry in advance but I haven’t done that in actual YEARS and I finally want to again.
Lady Jessica finally received the adaptation she has long deserved. My favorite character of any medium, always. Rebecca Ferguson was truly born to play her. The little character nuances she brings are so unique, for Jessica it’s the way she carries her hands, always a gentle cradle of a finger or two, and the way she fights is the same, it’s careful and precise but serves great purpose. She holds her head tall and stiff while around an audience but looses that regality while alone with her son and Duke, a sign of trust and comfort I find to be so beautiful, never really loosening the reigns, but allowing them to hang low just for a moment.
That tent scene between Jessica and Paul?! Mother of Christ.
A massive scale of a movie that pulls off everything seamlessly.
Frank Herbert would be so very very proud.
Only I will remain.
