Absolutely
Usually don’t log non narratives on here but I just absolutely had to for this one. genuinely one of the best musical experiences in general I’ve ever had. It’s such a raw, immersive, emotional and unique experience watching this. Just such an overflow of talent in one room just sharing their passion for music with no restraint or lack of freedom. Just full open arms, zoned out into the music. I looked into this because I listened to Djion’s album “Absolutely” earlier and was just blown away by it. This is easily just as good as the album itself from a musical standpoint but also technically speaking.
Beyond fans of Dijon, I feel like anyone can appreciate this film just because of how raw and pleasing of an experience it is just musically. People singing their hearts out, multiple instruments cohesively bouncing off the walls in their sound to make an absolute masterpiece in music composition. Visually stunning as well I should add. Camerawork is just insane and so immersive, especially towards the end. The way the camera is attached to Dijon every step of the way towards the last few songs just makes it feel like your going on this out of body experience of the cathartic music, which you are if you appreciate musical talent and care for the art of it on this level.
Also the set design is also just very well made and adds to the sort of welcoming atmosphere. The choice of recreating a living room adds so much to the feel of it all because it heightens the sort of camaraderie and family bond between them you feel knowing that they all recorded this album in a house they all were invited into rather than just a studio. Just so amazing on all levels with this. Breathing life, energy and a deep sense of love and care for what they do. Even those little actions like singing so loud his voice cracks, or rapidly tapping on the piano keyboards. They’re doing it for the love of music and the love of music only, and it couldn’t be more evident
