The camerawork technique of the cam being strapped onto Dijon while he’s frolicking and jumping all around always gets me. It’s such an effective way to convey music as a form of emotional expression and liberation. The lyrics, the rhythm, the beat, all contributes to the form of body movement and expression through dancing, jumping or however you celebrate the musical experience. It’s something not only cherishable but something that brings such freedom and immersion into a reality you get to make from your own mind of music composition rather than leaving that personal reality up to the fait of world. All art forms are an escape not just music. As artists and creatives, there’s a certain privilege you have of the being the painter and maker of your own story and choosing to immerse yourself into your own alternate reality. In our own real lives, there’s so many trying times and circumstances out of our complete control and the only way to connect with ourselves in a sense of inner peace is drawing ourselves into a safer world and space we make through art, which is the power of these mediums like music and film.
