Eighth Grade
I like me a good coming of age movie every now and then and this one I think was pretty good. I feel like it was really relatable and accurate in terms of trying to convey something that feels real in contrast to actual middle school life. The story is about this girl in middle school named Kayla who’s not necessarily quiet but just very socially awkward which I feel like is what a lot of young teens go through at some point. Another example of this film’s accuracy is in the movie the main character Kayla has a crush on this dude named Aiden. Which this guy she has a crush on is kind of a duche but she doesn’t really care and she ignores the red flags of him just because he’s attractive in her eyes. I feel like that was a really accurate picture of young minds. I also found myself cringing so many times from seeing Kayla’s awkward interactions but through all of that it’s still an accurate and interesting picture to paint about life as a teen and trying to find yourself
