Phantom Thread
2nd best pta film in my opinion, and his last for me to watch, and I was mot disappointed. Usually I don’t like these victorian era type english period dramas but this one was more complex. Shows the relationship between Alma a girl of desire and Mr Woodcock a man of reputation and order. This relationship was very unqiue and one-sided though, Mr Woodcock’s character made me pause the movie multiple times to question his actions and words, eventually leading up to their marriage which just confused me so much. Mr Woodcock did not treat Alma with any respect, gave her 0 compliments and argued with her all the time, and yet she stuck around and said yes to getting married??!??!! If this guy can get a wife, man do I have a chance. Overall this film was very deep in terms of themes of order and power, but it worked well with the one-sided relationship. This whole film was built on the job of Mr Woodcock being a seamsman (man who makes dresses) and his introduction of Alma into it. I think everyone did a great job acting, especially Daniel Day-Lewis who made me hate his character so much. The ending was unique and made me have to search it up it was that impactful. 8/10 crazy good
