Obi-Wan Kenobi
Like many kids obsessed with movies growing up in the 2000s or just kids from that decade in general we are exposed to Star Wars at a reasonably young age but undeniably Luca's still debatable but certainly impactful return to filmmaking with the prequels trilogy play a significant part in that which I think is why the slow painful demise of this once generation spanding culturally treasured property has been such a sight to be hold. Disney's handling has been less then stellar with at best mediocre junk food to unrecognisable and bland mess, the only joy at this point that can be gleaned from these cooperate fast foods of cinema is witnessing how spectacularly these films break world records for the fastest pictures to literally burn before our eyes and crash into oblivion but even calling these fast food of film is being generous because those junk food do taste good sometimes, these new Star Wars media on the other hand doesn't even have a taste at all which in some way Is worst then just tasting bad because atleast that leaves a bit of a impression but really all these things aim to accomplish is to satisfy the objective audiences and apathetic robots that are train to laugh at every bad joke, they have nothing remotely distinctive to say or anything they stand on beside from the exploitation of nostalgia and creating sensory torture for anyone in the audience that sees through the bullshit, I'm sad to say these cooperate manufactured yet another product that got me wishing it was different, with the return of Hayden and Ewan I though maybe they would find some way to get some of that prequels tone back but NOPE, fooled again and yet again I was cheated by this abomination excuse of a limited TV series, firstly can't they just give the audience whatever little respect they got left and let them think and imagine for themselves? There is no need for this in the first place and the mystery of the time in between the prequels and the original film is just enough to communicate effectively the lingers that happened after the war and Alec Guinness performance already did its job so why does this need to exist? I know, for money. The rest of this series is as boring, predictable, exhausting and lazy as any of these new Star Wars products, am glad to hear that the toy sells for this overbeaten franchise is going down because just let it rest, they won't I know but really. Despite all their problems and faults and I admit I don't enjoy them as much as I used to, the George Lucas' Star Wars project had something these new things doesn't and won't; a voice of its own. Its clear watching Lucas' Star Wars his love for space opera, over melodrama, Flash Gordon, fixation with standard tropes of characters, and with some influence from Kurosawa and his own personal emotional angle, all of this adds to a world filled with a well defined and perfectly finely executed voice that is unmistakably a product of a man's creativity and dreams, Disney's Star Wars and Obi Wan Kenobi as a whole is a soulless creative mess of confused tonal directions, crowded visions and a pathetic desperate desire for greed and mass consumption even when it hurts and exploits the art of what has come before and those who loved it, lesson of the day; build a good name and never, i repeat NEVER give it to those who didn't even believe in you in the first place, Disney is prime example isn't that right George?
