Sentimental Value
Ugh the norwegian narration almost made me die of laughter at the beginning.
This is the most beautiful movie of all time, I don’t think it will ever be topped, to be fair that’s what I said about Inglourious Basterds but this time I mean it (let’s hope so at least)
I was crying through half the movie because of how sad and beautiful this was and it pissed me off so fucking much that the whole theater was fucking dying of laughter, like just appreciate the fucking movie instead of laughing at any and every attempt at humor.
This is by far Stellan Skarsgård’s best performance and I can say that with absolute certainty while not having watched that many of his performances. Elle Fanning, Renate Reinsve and the actor for Agnes (I’m not writing all that) all give amazing, incredible and fantastic performances. If I don’t see a sweep by this for best male lead, female lead and supporting actress at the Oscar’s I might actually murder someone.
This film and Stellan’s character really reminded me of my own father, while not as neglectful as Gustav Borg he’s still managed to do somewhat of a good job with neglecting the feelings and mental health of me and my siblings.
I kind of want to kill myself after watching this. Since I started watching The Studio (terrific show btw) I’ve had my heart set on becoming a director but after watching this I don’t really know anymore, because I won’t ever be able to create something remotely close to this and if I can’t believe I’m the best then what’s the point?
Anyways if you read the whole review then you should lowkey watch this movie, it’s pretty good I guess…
