BUM
Finally able to write a review about this!! I’ve had the pleasure of seeing this project come to where it’s at now with its release and may I say it is brilliant.
Anthony Leroy’s longest film thus far clocking in at about 39 minutes, is a culmination of all his previous films. Over the top characters who are funny as hell btw, the gnarly practical effects and relevant commentary about our society, SOV style found footage. You can really see how his past shorts in a way, bleed into this one.
I love everyone’s performances, without going into spoilers they’re really over the top, comical type characters that work really well. It’s funny, but knows when to get serious. The build up to the final act is executed quite well in a way that doesn’t loose your attention.
The final act is absolutely my favorite bit of the film, once it starts, the chaos never ends. The vagrant design is creepy as hell and the practical effects are really well done with the editing and pacing of it all, feeling real and beautiful, as a SFX artist myself I applaud them for achieving such amazing work.
Sound design is crazy good in this, having the chance to get to know Anthony more these last few months and seeing his process of getting this film to where it needed to be is a huge honor as someone who strives to be an ambitious filmmaker like him. This man is a hard worker, and a great friend to me. I love the sound design in the film and the really creepy atmosphere it builds in this film. Really ties it all together.
Anthony, my man, thank you for taking me along this crazy chaotic ride and letting me get a glimpse into this world. It was one of my most anticipated films of the year and it did not disappoint, keep it up. Much love to you, and a huge applaud to the cast and crew for achieving such a crazy film that will no doubt be one to talk about in the realm of one of the best short films I’ve ever seen. Bravo guys. You nailed it out of the fucking park with this.
