Nosferatu

wow. felt so submersed in this world and this imagery. such a beautiful feat with world class performances from lily rose depp, bill skarsgard, willem dafoe and nicholas hoult. there are many different interpretations to this story. i understand the theme of desire and how giving into it can be freeing, how puritan ideologies can be harmful and life sucking. but to me, this is a film about the evils of sexual violence. acts such as grooming and rape are pure evil and suck the life out of you. count orlok is a manifestation of evil that hunts down and rapes this woman, sucking out her life force. ellen is a survivor who is full of strength and resistance.  i view most films through the lens of a feminist and advocate against sexual violence so this is just my interpretation. and hey, maybe eggers just meant it to be a dramatic and beautiful retelling of dracula.
