Sing Sing

wow. as someone who majored in theatre in undergrad, this movie is a must see. (it felt like how i’m sure sports fans feel watching a sports film). i knew those exercises! theatre is so cathartic and healing, and every time i feel myself pulled away from the art of it, a film like this pulls me back in this movie has such incredible performances and i can’t believe so many of them aren’t professional actors. colman domingo and clarence maclin deserve all the flowers they’re getting and more. this movie should be in awards conversation more. seeing these men be vulnerable and open with each other in such a pure way was magical. more people need to see this and i wish it was marketed better. as nicole kidman says “we come to this place for magic” indeed.
