Logan

I’d been waiting years to see this movie, and me and my dad finally sat down and watched it. There was so much anticipation going into this, both as a wolverine movie, and a western. The Wolverine is an ok movie, enjoyable but not the most rewatchable, and X Men Origins is…anyways, needless to say this movie doesn’t have the best precedence. But over the years I’d heard amazing things ab this film, but for some reason never got to it until a few months ago. I finally saw what good a true R rating can do for a superhero film. The wolverine character is done so well here, and even though the f word is censored in comics, this feels very comic natural. The violence is on point, and it’s awesome. Some of the coolest action scenes in superhero movies. This is also a great character study, with a script that is very serious, dark, and interesting. With Patrick Stewart in here, there are a lot more emotional scenes that really bring you into the story. Charles and Logan’s relationship is so real and genuine, I loved seeing them together as true friends. Even though the tone here is very dark and serious, that doesn’t stop the occasional quip from Charles.
If I were to say any kind of flaw here, it would be the villain. He’s definitely fierce, a real threat, and we’ll acted, but honestly, he’s kinda boring. There are definitely scenes where he shows that he’s not boring, but he felt lacking in terms of presence. X-24, however, is awesome. His fight with Logan is so sick. Also I love how the movie hints at past plans to bring back the academy, with the little kids in the middle. The score is also fantastic. Westernesque, slow and somewhat eerie, and very intense at times. The cinematography is another great aspect here too. The tracking shot of Logan running into the woods, knowing he’ll die, is one of best shots I’ve ever seen in a superhero film. Overall, Logan is easily a new favorite, and without a doubt my favorite FOX marvel movie.
