Audition
for some reason i wanted to really rewatch this, im glad i did, its my favorite body horror ever made, and one of the best horror movies ever made, if this film doesnt click the first time, it'll definitely click the second, i picked up on a lot of details, especially in the dialogue, the performances are great, the main character's friend is funny as fuck, i love the editing and framing, the film has a lot of really cool shots, like the cover shot is ICONIC, but theres even cooler shot than that, if you think because of the cover or reputation it's just torture porn, i can assure you its not, its a beautifully crafted film, its climbed up so high on my list, what Takashi Miike is doing in this film reminds me of like Lynch + Cronenberg, its really something magical
it was a lot to take in on a first watch, on a rewatch its not as disturbing, its still pretty fucking disturbing though, after doing some research, theres a scene in this film that hits way harder knowing the context, the pacing is perfect, every time i think im going to get bored, it never lets me, i love how the film goes from a entertaining rom-com to a surreal dream, mulholland drive captures the dreamy aspect way better, but audition does it really well, those last 30 minutes, iconic, perfect, i thought i would feel like shit after rewatching it, but i don't, after rewatching it, im not as confused, i remember just not understanding what the fuck was going on, but now i understand it and interpret it differently, im glad i rewatched it, one of the best horror films ever made, its something you won't get out of any other film, PERFECT 10/10
