Chernobyl
It’s incredible. Every detail every actor every element is just incredible. I think the most astonishing part of the series is the fact that this is a real thing that genuinely still impacts people to this day. Whilst watching the series, there’s this eerie feeling that maybe mankind has developed too far for its own good. We can harness nuclear energy in such a sophisticated and innovative way but it’s like we have abandoned our humanity. Human life becomes increasingly futile in the grand scheme of scientific innovation and that is such a devastating idea that this series got across. Have we gone too far? Have we lost ourselves in this process? These questions are asked all throughout the film and it leaves you in awe, and it’s definitely a series that sticks with you. Amidst the corruption of the Soviet Union post Stalin, is a small beacon of hope and oddly enough the hope comes from the scientists themselves. Those who have pushed us this far into the deadly future are the ones willing to account for the importance of human life. It’s so so ironic but it’s what makes this series incredible. It’s a dark, painful, hopeless exploration of scientific exploration, corrupt regimes and more importantly, mankind.
