Bad Lieutenant

I wasn’t surprised to learn that this wasn’t the original cut. I’ve learned to expect some less conventional decisions from Abel in the editing room but I had the sense something was just a bit off here. I wish the NC-17 cut was easier to find, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. When it’s all said and done it still whips a good deal of ass anyway. A very cynical, bleak, raw, effective brutal character piece. A way bigger influence on Uncut Gems than I realized.  Harvey is obviously on fire here. It really makes the Sandler performance look extra tame.
