The Florida Project

Obviously the kid playing Mooney does something ethereally perfect here, and I’m sure there’s lots of praise for Willem, but Bria is outstanding as well. That was a complex part to play and she completely nails it and adds a layer of reality.  This is a little too long with a bloated midsection but it has a hyper realism mixed with whimsy and a bleak and punishing tone that’s also optimistic and playful. Really well balanced. Emotions bubble at the closing sequence and it’s a very smart way to end it.
