Jaws
Recently for me, a pretty prominent pattern has been occurring while I’ve been rewatching movies I’ve seen before. Not even recently this is really a things that happens a lot to me. For example, when I was a younger, I didn’t love ET, maybe I just didn’t understand it very well. When I have gotten older though, the movie became a big part of me and is a top 20 movie for me today. Other movies like gladiator, Fargo, the big Lebowski, pulp fiction, and 2001 a space odyssey have all gotten better the second or even third watch. These are movies that maybe I loved before but after watching again, felt it even more. This is exactly with jaws.
Can someone explain why a movie from 1975 can be this chilling and suspenseful and horrifying all at once. A 1975 movie has no right to be. Call this a crazy take, but even though people always say that horror now has gotten so much scarier, and yeah I see their point. Most of horror this century is scarier than last century horror, I get it, but this movie manages to give me a fear I’ve never felt before. Something that not even the Conjuring Or Heriditary can give me. I don’t k ow how to explain it so you’ll just have to watch it yourself.
I go back from watching new horror and yeah it’s scary, it might even stick with me a little, but there’s nothing like what this movie does. I can think of 3 other old horrors that do. The Thing, The Shining, Rosemary’s Baby, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Watch this one, find the time
