Barbie

This film came out during the Writers and Actors strike of 2023. Without the work of the writers and actors, this movie would not have been made. Studios such as Warner Brothers need to pay their writers and actors more and protect them from being exploited by A.I., full stop. Barbenhimer (the fan-made mashup of this year's Barbie and Oppenheimer) part one was a perfectly paced joy ride with the perfect casting of Margot Robbie as Barbie and a story that is most definitely unlike any of those old straight-to-DVD Barbie movies from the 2000s (this movie gets very existential). Also, Ryan Gosling shines as Margot's co-lead, Ken, who shares her journey to the real world to help the family at the core of this story's emotional center.
