Barbie
On this second watch of this summer’s smash hit Barbie, it was important to focus on little details in director Greta Gerwig’s world, and Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt’s score. One of the core details that I thought was important, and I noticed on the rewatch, was whenever Ruth Handler (the creator of the Barbie) showed up, the opening notes of one of the most popular and powerful songs from the film, Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” This, really, helped to predict the ending of the movie’s moment where Barbie would realize that she wants to be human. Also, Ryan Gosling needs to win a Oscar for Best original song (“I’m Just Ken”) and Michael Cera needs to be recognized for Alan, Alan was one of my favorite moments throughout both times I watched the movie.
