Obi-Wan Kenobi
Part I (56m)
A lot more toned down than I thought it was gonna be while covering A LOT more than I was expecting. Ewan McGregor, of course, slips back into the role like a glove and is, by far, the best part of this episode. However, not a lot happens in this first episode which isn’t disappointing but rather underwhelming. The cinematography is fine and the editing is somewhat choppy but the score… MWAH! Beautiful. A lot of bongos though—that seems to be a thing with modern Star Wars. Oh yeah, almost forgot about that amazing recap of the prequels. This show has a difficult task of being a prequel to the OG trilogy and a sequel to the prequels. There are some elements (depending on which character you’re following) that mix both sequel and prequel styles. The first episode’s pacing was not too bad; kind of meandered a bit. But overall, not a bad first episode, just slightly underwhelming.
