Okay, so I tried and failed to write an actual review. Due to the fact that I'm unfathomably illiterate, I haven't been unable to put my thoughts into [TEXT], so I'll just enumerate with no particular order and without elaborating some of the recurring concepts I thought throughout the movie.
I got the privilege to watch it on a (¾ empty) theater and, as the pathological eavesdropper I am, got to listen to the immediate reaction of the young audience.¹ Long story short, most of them thought it was boring, can't blame them, the pace is rather slow, although I don't share such opinion.²
As promised, here the concepts:
1. Solipsism
2. (Mis)Communication
3. Semiotics of a globalized West
>
4. Simulation
>
5. Compliance
Anyways, masterful work. We live in a society type beat.
¹ Except for and old fellow who seems to watch every single screening ever (Unless he somehow has been able to track my tickets).
² I'm aware of my bias in favor of Haneke, maybe because of the straight away pessimism of his work.²ª
²ª I'd imagined if I had an editor they would have sighed in disapproval if I would have left the original word "oevre" I used, instead of just plain "work".
