Sinnersjaytee wrap8.0· April 17, 2025FollowI think I rolled my eyes every time this trailer played, but now that I’ve seen it I think I love it? So many horror movies struggle to hold onto a meaningful message throughout their story but this film was bursting with life. The importance and power of black culture - especially as it’s told, carried, and passed down through music over the centuries. Assimilation vs freedom, as white people have pushed for “equality” on their terms, expecting black people to bring the parts white people like and leave the rest. The relationship between blood sucking vampires and white people who have been sucking marginalized people dry for centuries. However, you can’t buy, steal, or kill culture. Through a shared culture, people can live on forever. A beautiful and inspiring horror movie. Nonetheless, as much as I loved this movie it’s not without its flaws. What did Hailee Steinfeld add to this film other than star power? She did great with what she had, but her story barely started before she gets taken out. Additionally, some scenes are really over the top (i’m talking about you fire sequences). The writing/pacing is really weak at points and movie ends 3-4 times before it actually cuts to credits. It really drags it out. Overall still probably the best movie of the year so far, and i’m expecting oscar talks for best sound. 1 Star ⭐️ - Regretted Watching:❌2 Star ⭐️ ⭐️ - Worth a Watch:✅- Somewhat Engaging:✅3 Star ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ - Invoked Emotion:✅- Rewatchable:✅- Compelling Plot:✅4 Star ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ - Whirlwind of Emotions:✅- Innovative Element:✅- Visually Compelling: ✅5 Star ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ - One of a Kind Experience:❌- Still Thought About Days Later:🤏- Changed Perspective on Life:❌ 🍃 recommended:❌Alone vs group: 👨👩👦CommentsSign in to react and join the conversation.Sign inGet the appSee all jaytee's reviews for Sinners (2)First watch8.0April 17, 2025Rewatch 19.7May 30, 2025
