Started revisiting again after the Golden Globes, seeing Jessie Buckley and Stellan Skarsgård getting their flowers, and it still feels like the absolute ceiling for historical reenactment drama. For a story confined to a brutally narrow window of time, it’s staggering in scope and tension, every choice carrying immediate and unseen consequence. The performances across the board are immaculate, the craft never puts a foot wrong, and the confidence behind it all is sometimes overwhelming.
