The first few episodes were enjoyable enough but I wasn't really getting the hype, but then holy macaroni after that it was so peak. Idk what to say about it it's just peak Malarkey, liebgott and babe are my goats There also weren't many sad deaths so that's a bonus cause I got so attached to the characters and I don't know if I could've handled any of them dying
Every episode from best to worst cause idk what else to say
1. Ep 9 2. Ep 7 3. Ep 10 4. Ep 6 5. Ep 5 6. Ep 8 7. Ep 3 8. Ep 4 9. Ep 2 10. Ep 1 speirs could hit me with a bus and i'd thank him and apologise for being in his way
I genuinely don't think this film has a single flaw. The opening Normandy sequence is just unbelievable and some of the most horrific filmmaking I've seen in anything. The whole film is super long but it doesn't feel that way at all since it's so immersive. There weren't any parts that I thought weren't really needed that could've been taken out to make the film shorter. All the performances are incredible aswell Wade's death is the saddest death in any war media imo. I was upset over it for like a week after I watched it so that has to mean something If it had been any other actor it would've been tragic but Vin Diesel dying at the first possible instance of danger was kinda funny Overall I think everything about this film is just perfect from start to finish. Top 3 movies oat
HOLY MACARONI THIS WAS SO PEAK I loved just about everything about this movie. The style, the soundtrack, the acting, everything. Christoph Waltz is incredible, though there's obviously no surprise there. The opening scene is perfect, flawlessly capturing your attention and refusing to let go for the rest of the film's duration, while also introducing Hans Landa perfectly - with Christoph Waltz's stellar performance properly shining through. The occasional humour lands well but also doesn't feel out of place. The tension in some scenes - such as the tavern scene - is built up brilliantly and doesn't feel too overdone or prolonged. The ending is super satisfying, like how could hundreds of nazis dying not be a good ending to a movie August diehl is really hot aswell so that's a bonus The only thing I didn't like about this was that I wish my queen shosanna had lived ๐ But her ending still feels satisfying, her finally getting her revenge that she's been plotting all these years But yeah this was so peak. Definetly one of my new favourite war movies
I hate old movies being glazed but imo this is the best war movie. I like spr and bob more but I'd say this is the best
Arguably the best cinematography of anything on the list Blake โน๏ธ๐ George MacKay hot Also probably the most rewatchable of anything on the list Idk if this is a crazy take but I genuinely think the running scene is one of the best scenes in any movie ever. Just everything about it is incredible Overall it's an enjoyable and really well made film but not really anything special compared to some of the others
I barely remember anything from this but I remember it being peak so it probably is
Loved it but I'm never watching it again Albrecht deserved so much better ๐ There is NO hetero explanation for the bathroom scene I'm sorry Like the amount of queer subtext in this film is crazy?? Albrecht wants to be a writer but that was typically seen as an unfit profession for men in those times, and his dad wants him to be more masculine like friedrich and enlist in the army to prove himself. It's just like Neil, he doesn't really fit into the presumed gender roles and stereotypes of those times. The bathroom scene was gayer than every scene in brokeback mountain combined
Andrew Garfield is absolutely incredible in this, he was so robbed of an oscar. The scene where he pulls the Seargent along on the cloth while he's shooting is funnier than every joke in friends combined The side characters are fun I don't like how the Japanese soldiers are portrayed but that's kinda it
Obviously nowhere near as good as band of brothers but still pretty solid and very well made Lowk every character except sledge was either insufferable or really boring.. like I fear sledge was the only character I cared about. I HATE snafu so much aswell like does he ever shut up And it was annoying cause rami malek is my goat, and the only thing I knew about this before watching it was that he was in it so I was excited to see him in it but then he was so insufferable omg. I thought he would at least get a bit nicer by the end but no he just stayed awful There was way too much romance that I just did not care about like this is not what I'm watching a war show for. I don't mind a bit of romance in stuff but not when it's a war show The Japanese soldiers were portrayed really well compared to some other war things set on okinawa. They were all just portrayed really authentically as they should be, which was something I liked about it The battle scenes were easily the best part, and were definetly some of the most brutal and haunting stuff I've seen in any war media. I just wish there could've been more stuff like that and less romance I really liked Sledge as a character and I found his depth and development very interesting. The visible effects that the war had on him at the end was heartbreaking to see. I probably would've liked to have seen more of him and less of Leckie and Basilone. I also found it kind of weird how the last episode went into so much depth about how deeply affected and traumatised sledge was from what he'd experienced in the war, but then leckie just seemed fine? Like he didn't even seem remotely affected by the war Overall yeah it's pretty good, but watching it after band of brothers definetly brought it down a lot
Okay these are my thoughts The narrative structure kind of annoyed me and I feel like the film could've been just as good being in chronological order, but I guess christopher nolan just has to make all of his movies really confusing. It felt kind of pointless like it was trying to be complicated just for the sake of being complicated The lil french guy was my goat Harry styles was surprisingly good I never thought I'd be sad over a barry keoghan character dying but here we are I lowk didn't really care about the plotline with the pilots I kinda just wanted to see the stuff with cillian murphy and harry styles and the gang The cinematography was great Idk why I wasn't expecting to like this, but it was much better than I thought it was gonna be
It ok Mercedes is my goat I don't know if this even counts as a war movie but I'll just put it here anyway idk
Good movie by itself Awful adaptation Visuals are very realistic and haunting Acting is amazing I already have a 1000 word review about why I don't like this film so I don't really have anything else to say Erich Marie Remarque did NOT die for this ๐
Fine I guess?? Idk it just felt like a really generic war movie I also found it kind of off-putting knowing we were following and meant to be rooting for a group of nazis I don't really know how to feel about the ending.. like I know it was meant to showcase the psychological effects of the war and everything but it just kind of made me feel like I'd wasted my time watching the whole movie. It was a good twist at least Michel is my cutie patootie Knowing it's directed by the same director as Napola also makes it kinda hard not to compare the two of them, Napola being infinitely superior in every way Would've been 100x better with max riemelt in it, I don't care that he would've been too old I'll probably never watch this again but I guess it was enjoyable enough
