Lost Highway
Letterboxd pals.. I actually understood a ton of the metaphors. I'm getting smarter.. it's happening.. 🥹🥹
okay anyway time to talk about the movie. It's a David Lynch movie, you're not going to know what’s happening half the time (maybe). It’s gonna be the most unique thing you’ll ever watch, a one time thing that cannot be compared to anything. The atmosphere he puts you in is unnerving, it’s unsettling, and half the time you don’t even know why.
The slow pacing in the beginning of most of his movies, the dialogue unpredictable as fuck you never know what you're getting into watching one of his movies. Even if you hate Lynch’s work, you can admit it sticks with you for a while. You never forget it.
One of my favorite little details in this movie is the ending him getting electrocuted, basically telling you this is all a fantasy or dream and a metaphor for him dying in the electric chair. He creates an entire fantasy where his goal is basically being the knight in shining armor, needing to save Alice or Renee because he feels belittled and wants to be the man in control.
I just love stories like this where the guy’s just a dick. It’s really fucked up but entertaining. AND I Can’t believe I actually pieced apart most of the scenes in this movie into something that slightly makes sense. Love this movie. I'm also proud of myself 🥹✌️
