“the only man i see is one with a big oedipus complex!” i love whenever people say that this movie is overwhelming or too much like …. yes !! that is the point !! and that’s why i love it !! when you think of mixing reality and dreams this is exactly what it would be—overwhelming. dreams are a combination of repressed desires and unconscious thoughts which is exactly why this movie is just so much. it’s such an interesting demonstration of the psychoanalytic theory involving manifest and latent content, i’ll probably end up using this movie for a paper in the future. sigmund freud would have had a timeeeee with this movie.  but side note, after watching this in both sub and dub i can definitely say sub is 10x better and just adds something that’s missing (which is both the va’s, i just personally prefer the japanese voices, and the subtitles did a better job conveying the dialogue than dubbed).
