the true colors scene. i need to talk about it after years of refusing to sing due to his trauma, branch sings for poppy because he knows that in that moment, she needs him. he’s willing to face his past in order to help her. true colors being the song for this moment is so perfect. it explains exactly what he feels. he understands how easy it is to fall into darkness and lose sight of happiness in hard times. he was in that exact state from the moment his grandma died until spending time with poppy. poppy is what brought him out of it. she helped him find happiness. he wants to help her the same way she helped him. he wants to bring her out of the darkness and bring her colors back, which is exactly what poppy did for branch. the soulmatism of it all. branch and poppy are EVERYTHING to me
