Superman
Rewatches are awesome.
The confrontation between Superman and Lex Luthor before the final fight felt like Gunn talking to Snyder, which I thought was funny.
I also felt I did not appreciate the cinematography enough in my last review, but me appreciating cinematography is more often than not just reads like "yooooo the cinematographyyyyyyy" anyway. The cinematography was great. The way the flying was shown, the slow motion shots, even the romance (the little I was allowed to see by my beloved CBFC) was great.
I want to talk about the title reveal. Since this was a rewatch, I was waiting for the title because it looked and started off great, but I didn't remember when it would come. In that moment, I was expecting something along the lines of "he wins this fight in some way and while he flies away we get the title in that heroic moment", but no, and I was very happy I was wrong (and surprised by how much I forgot in such short time). Superman got his ass handed to him at his 100% power. He heals to 83% and gets back to the fight anyway. THAT is when you get the title. THAT is Superman. Such brilliance.
I might write more.
**EDIT
**I would now like to talk about the PCX Dolby 3D experience. I think this might be the first time I understood the intention of 3D. Watching that weird Dolby Atmos thing in 3D was almost identical to when I first saw the IMAX countdown. I have never been more locked in. All my previous 3D experiences, I felt like part of the screen was coming out and the rest was backwards, and that is all. The way I perceived a 3D visual till now was like looking at a stage set. There is a background on the curtains, and the rest is outside the curtain. It was like watching multiple elements separately rather than separation through depth. So Dolby 3D was a wonderful experience. The film too, it wasn't "using" 3D to make something more interesting. The film, in its entirety, felt 3D. This might be the only film I cannot imagine a 2D version of. I don't know if all 3D films are like this in Dolby 3D or they have to be made a special way, but this film is a wonderful wonderful 3D experience. I cannot help but wonder what Dolby Cinema in Pune feels like. I manifest enough money to be able to travel and have these experiences.
