Dune: Part Two
Every line has multiple meanings. It’s symmetric nature is true beauty. The colour. The score. The power. Dune: Part Two holds a special place in my heart. Third watch now so wanted to just briefly discuss moments where it shines.
Chani and Paul’s relationship. The charisma present. From such a high to a devastating conclusion. Phenomenally accompanied by Zimmer’s very best.
That knife duel. How the score immediately cuts out. The line delivery - “May thy knife chip and shatter”.
But I really picked up this time how devastating Stilgar’s story is. A man desperate for his people to prosper, fanatically waiting for the one to point the way. Paul uses his religious beliefs to create a cult and ‘brainwash’ the Fremen from within. His desperation at the end is harrowing. So many parallels to modern events that make it believably terrifying.
