Halloween
you don’t believe in the boogeyman? well you should.. for a continuation forty years later, i think this film was great, and the fact that i didn’t have to sit through a million other movies to be able to watch this timeline was such a relief. in comparison to my little knowledge on the original before watching, i knew absolutely nothing about this one beforehand. no scenes, no deaths, anything besides a couple of faces in the cast. that always makes for a pretty solid first watch— almost always, but it did here. i loved laurie just as much in this film as i did in the first one, despite their complete differences. she went from being a potential mother to a real one.. in this film, she was a survivor dealing with the trauma that came from halloween night forty years ago, living in complete isolation. her family considered her crazy, but FINALY they decided to listen to her when it was damn near too late, okay?? never question laurie strode when she tells you he is coming back. she was just such a badass through and through. her entire house being a trap to kill michael when it came down to it? she’s so smart, resourceful, and prepared for anything now. oh and not to forget, i still loved her hair even if it’s now a different color. i don’t wanna hear anything from anyone. laurie strode, ur beauty never ever scared me. moving onto the new set of characters, the only one i really cared about was allyson. i loved allyson so much. she was so cute in her halloween outfit, and i’m glad she got away from cameron’s ugly ass. i hate that man, his actor just irks me so badly. allyson is the new potential mother since laurie is past her prime of motherhood, but both can be mothers in my heart now. she’s just a great new face to take the final girl torch, but her escaping that cop car just came down to straight luck. i need more fighting allyson, let’s do it! those stabs were great, but i need those claws to fully come out. i hated that new loomis guy, he was annoying and i’m so glad he died. same with the journalists, both annoying freaks for asking laurie to try to talk to michael? though i will say, i liked dana more than aaron. vicky and dave, there’s not much to say about— i’m sad they died because i like miles and vicky was a nice character, but the scene was so funny with that little fat kid. karen was just a bitch to me, and i didn’t like her throughout this movie for the way she treated laurie. i mean it makes sense yeah because of her childhood basically being wasted as she was trained to kill, but i have my laurie bias.. karen’s only good moment throughout the entirety of this movie was ‘gotcha’ because it was just so iconic, and she gagged michael when he turned. i hear she gets better in the halloween kills, so i’m hoping that’s the case for me as well. michael was UTTERLY RUTHLESS in this movie- he killed so many people and created a bloodbath of people, and those deaths were fucking brutal man. the teeth in the bathroom? gross. NEW LOOMIS FACE CRUSH, gross. he was just a monster with each and every kill. his rampage as all the kids trick or treated outside was nice to watch. i still can’t believe he survived the first movie and obviously survives this one, like he was trapped inside of a burning house. HOW DO YOU DO IT MICHAEL? and not to mention, he was run over.. he’s supposed to be a human, right? he needs to take his fingerless left hand and die once and for all. a few other things i enjoyed: allyson’s running scene, her scream every time, the modernized theme music, the closet door scene, and the final scenes of the movie as the girls escaped the house going down in flames. although i’ve not seen any of the halloween movies besides ‘78 and ‘18, i can say that just these two movies would’ve made for a good timeline to me.. but i can’t wait to see how kills and ends are. HAPPY HALLOWEEN MICHAEL!
