Super 8
This film has such a special place in my heart. I’m 17, so yeah, I’m young. I was even younger when I watched this movie, seeing it in theatres when I was 8. And I loved every minute of it. This film made me want to make films myself - it captures a youthful and unchecked passion for filmmaking and it made me want to do it to. Unfortunately I live in the north east of England, and it’s fairly difficult to make friends interested in filmmaking when you’re and 8 year old girl in that area. Even so, super 8 made me realise what I wanted to do when I finally got the chance: I wanted to make movies. For that, despite the criticism it gets for being “simply cheap nostalgia”, I hold this one close to my heart. Even tho the kid who played Joe Lamb unfortunately sank to levels of the kissing booth.
