Nope
after seeing Get Out for the first time earlier this week, I was immediately ready to call that the best Peele. but MAN does Nope fuck on a rewatch. this thing is a unique kind of impressive. his attention to detail, particularly in the first act, is so subtle yet thematically tight. it reminds me a lot of Edgar Wright's approach to foreshadowing, the kind that's done so tastefully that the rewatch is actually rewarding after you already know how it all ends (that shit is nearly impossible to do with mystery, my god). to me, the most impressive thing about Nope, though, is the ambiguity of interpretation. I saw it for the first time for film class last year and we were told almost nothing about it, with the intention of pulling our own meanings from it. I'm still of the camp that it's about viewership and spectacle but I can see all its other themes emerge consistently throughout, in a way that could completely change the meaning of the plot from a different perspective, and that's something really special. consider me a Peele head, very hyped for his fourth.
TL;DR: this shit fire, very impressive :)
