Tenet
this latest stage of nolan’s career post the dark knight trilogy is easily superior in my opinion because to me this is nolan at his most assured and the emotional resonance seeps through because of that.
this is the most “nolan” movie of his filmography because he takes his obsession with time to a place only he can take it and straps you in along for the ride and because of this, not unlike a lot of his films, tenet is immensely rewarding on rewatch.
the protagonist and neil’s relationship is, in my opinion, only surpassed but coop and murph in all of nolan’s filmography and “see you at the beginning friend” will never stop hitting.
tenet is such a necessary step in the progression to oppenheimer and now the odyssey and so perhaps nolan has entered a stage in his career beyond being able to return to this world but on the other hand he can also do whatever he wants at the moment.
i think returning to this world and making what could/would be a prequel and a sequel at the same time would be a very nolan thing to do and it also helps that denzel wants to work with nolan, he’d be an excellent casting decision as and older version of the protagonist in which he and his son get to play the same character at the same time. maybe i’m just dreaming
