Das Boot
"Take pictures of the crew returning, not putting out to sea"
The 3 hour and a half version will always be better.
One of the most special and important films for me.
My dad showed it to me when I was about eight years old, and I was already captivated by it. Watching it today, I understand that Das Boot is a masterpiece.
The film's music is perfect; it maintains the pacing spectacularly. It's beautiful and moving.
The acting is spectacular, especially Jürgen Prochnow's.
I love the cinematography. It keeps you gripped the entire time inside the submarine, and when there are shots outside, it feels liberating and hopeful.
The ending is incredible, as is the script and everything Wolfgang Petersen does as the director.
I will always be grateful to my dad for showing me all this cinema.
