Ahsoka
Sometimes the student guides the master.
So here we are at Ahsoka, probably one of the most divisive shows in the Star Wars universe and I truly don’t understand why.
The show is basically a live action season 5 of Star Wars Rebels bringing in many of the beloved characters from that show.
Each episode felt unique and helped usher in many elements that will flesh out the time period between the original and sequel trilogies with the big bad villain of The Mandoverse being introduced into live action and I will be getting to him.
I believe every character in this show was portrayed amazingly by their respective actors.
I want to touch on two characters in particular.
Baylan Skoll played by the late great Ray Stevenson was portrayed excellently. Truly came across as a Jedi Survivor who has had to turn and adapt to survive. His lightsaber duels with Ahsoka felt like duels ripped out of our own world. Ahsoka fielding a more samurai-esque stance and combat style against his more medieval European knight style. A truly unique way to show the evolution of lightsaber duelling.
May the force be with Ray Stevenson.
Secondly Grand Admiral Thrawn is played by his voice actor from Rebels in Lars Mikkelsen. I audibly gasped when it actually finally showed him. A cold calculating villain and I feel like he is truly more threatening than the Emperor from the OT.
All in all I loved this show and I am glad it is getting renewed for a second season and I cannot wait to see how this Mandoverse saga of Star Wars plays out both on the big and small screens.
