oppenheims vision is so clearly enhanced by his documentary experience and the movie felt akin to that in the best way. the use of the 4 screen split was great in showing the awkwardness with decoy dan but also the shocking reactions of the main characters all at once at the end. that element of the movie was truly amazing. speaking of the ending, it was so shocking. sadly i knew what was gonna happen beforehand, but upon watching it, it actually shocked me. it was super sudden, the parallels to earlier visions chris had, the flashing demented shots… it was all such a great climax. the circus-like soundtrack was a great touch to the radical element of the movie, highlighting chris hansen, dan and andies spiraling psyche. this will always be the most visually appealing film to me. it has all the things i think are most gorgeous in its visuals, contrast, hazy lighting, grain, it’s actually perfect
