The Shining
this movie is even better upon rewatch. the things i initially viewed as plot holes are more understood by me now. jack nicholson is insane, he’s so offputting as the character
the camera work, with the zooms and the tracking shots, might be the best cinematography i’ve seen in a movie. the use of symmetry in the camera framing is appeasing as well.
the set design is so meticulous, which is to expect from a kubrick movie. the coloring of the setting is used as a storyteller very well.
overall, i feel like the story itself doesn’t have too much nuance, which is due to the source material, but kubrick did as much as he could with it and produced a wonderful and influential film.
