Spider-Man

You know I’m starting to be able to quote this film off by heart. For me the original Sam Raimi trilogy is a key staple of my childhood. It made me fall in love with the character that was Spider-Man whilst also being one of the greatest superhero trilogy’s! If we ignore SPM3 which is more of a guilty pleasure. My point is that these films are super nostalgic, they all are, whether it’s the memories of seeing Tom’s in theatres, or binging Andrew’s on dvd at my grandparents. To revisiting this time and time again! It never gets old for me. It’s something I’ll always cherish personally and forever love the first Spider-Man film. Even though I glaze it a lot, that doesn’t mean I don’t think it’s cheesy. It’s got the total 2000s cheesy superhero vibe written all over it. But I can’t help but fall in love with that. Tobey plays Peter SO well, it’s incredible. He’s relatability is really what sharpens his performance up for me. Not to mention how awkward he is. He’s a total nerd and that’s what Peter is. I respect Tobey and Sam Raimi for understanding the task at hand and really going for it in this one. It’s also one of the funniest films I’ve ever seen. I’m unsure why it is, whether it’s too much reels using it for Giftok or memes. Or that it generates so much comedic value and energy in most moments. It’s not necessarily cringey funny, even though there are moments like that. It’s more so Peter’s style of quips and Norman’s unhinged personality at points that made me out right laugh. Not to mention that damn Thanksgiving scene where Aunt May tells Norman off. Spider-Man is such a comfort film for me, for a while I never gave it a 5 because of the extremely strict policy I had. But now it’s my opinions and my personal perception and experience. I’ve seen this too many times for it not to be down as a 5. I used to always come back to this one the most I think, this one, TASM 1 and SPM3 where my go to’s as a kid. May be that those three picks as my go to’s are controversial I’m unsure. But they were mine and those make me feel most nostalgic.
