The Wailing

Those fucking Japanese…you just can’t trust them.  I love having short memory. Though I had seen this before, any expectations that I thought early on were wiped away by the end of the film.  Every expectation that I built up during the course of the film came crashing down.  When the Shaman is introduced, the score is so fierce and abrasive. It’s quite hilarious.  One more thing about the Shaman, the ritual scene is probably the best scene in the film.  Though I largely forgot this film, one scene in this film haunted me as I stepped into the theater. An underrated aspect of The Wailing is how much it revels in nature. There are some landscape shots in this film that are a marvel to look at.
