WALL·E

This film has so many opportunities to chicken out and take the easy route and yet it remains dark and nihilistic up until basically the final few minutes. Feels so major now, like a civilisational call to action that was ignored, a decree of horrors to come hidden in a family film with a bit of Hello, Dolly on top. I think it’s pretty perfect.
