Practical Magic
Its taken me some time to write a review for this film since i first joined letterboxd, despite the fact that i automatically knew this was my number 1. As i listen to the soundtrack at school studying i know this film is perfect to me in every way, always grounding me. Its magical and who doesnt need a little magic in their life? (especially the witchy kind). Its relatable (men suck but not if you find the right one) and it follows 2 sisters. I've watched this film since i was a kid, my Mum always said we were the Owens family in another life and witchy like them. Nothing else really clicked for me. But as i grew older and watched this film i knew it was perfect. At age 14 or even younger i always thought my sister and i would be Sally but as the movie proves life cant help but give you a little bit of Gillian. My sisters now in her Gillian stage. Men do that. This movie will always be there to give me a lesson it seems, in every stage of my life, and nothing has been done like it since. (Will the sequel compete? Probably not.)
