Aftersun
A journey through a vacation of these two strangers, yet I became so immersed in it. It was so realistically heartbreaking in a way no other film has touched me before. At times I wasn’t sure whether to feel happy or sad but always found the road bad to sadness. An absolutely devastating masterpiece I’ve been wanting to watch for some time, and by no means was it disappointing. It didn’t have much plot arc until the end, but all those shots in between everything felt so real, like I was really there in that Turkish hotel. I’d also say there were really well utilized methods of “show not tell.” And it goes without it saying, but, Paul Mescal’s acting was so incredibly depicting of his character. This is one of those movies you love so much you’re never sure it you want to watch it again.
