Sinners
So in the wrestling world, there's something called "breaking the scale". It's when a match is so great that wrestling journalists will give it over 5 stars. Sinners breaks the scale and then some.
This is my second time through with it and I can safely say that my theater experience the first time was not a fluke and not due to the surprise twists of the plot. I can watch it a thousand times over and Sammie's song to his father, Pearline singing Pale Pale Moon, and Smoke shooting up the klan will still give me a visceral reaction. It's such a meme at this point but genuinely this is cinema. This is why we even have movies and art in the first place. To fucking feel something. Ryan Coogler, Micheal B., Miles Caton, Jayme Lawson, Delroy Lindo, Wunmi Mosaku, Hailee Steinfeld, Autumn Durald Arkapaw, Ludwig Göransson, Micheal P. Shawver, and everyone else in the cast and crew made me feel something. They are all true artists, and Sinners is true art.
