Emma.

I think I can finally, confidently bump this from four and a half up to five stars.

I love this film. It’s easily one of my favourites. The cast is stacked — seriously, it has four of my absolute favourite actors, **and they all completely own their roles. Anya Taylor-Joy* is perfect as Emma, walking that line between annoying, charming, and deeply lovable. Johnny Flynn gives Mr. Knightley such an understated warmth, and his quiet devotion is honestly so **soft it kind of breaks my heart. Mia Goth* as Harriet is adorable and genuinely sweet without ever feeling dumb or one-note, and *Callum Turner nails* Frank Churchill’s cocky, playful energy. Every single actor brings something sharp and funny and a little messy, which just makes the whole thing feel so alive.**

The visuals? Stunning. Like I literally can’t stop looking at this movie whenever it’s on. It’s got that Marie Antoinette (2006) vibe but honestly, dare I say, it’s prettier (don’t come for me, I love them both). The colours are soft and rich, the costume design is perfect, the framing is so delicate — it’s like every shot is meant to be paused and stared at.
*𓍢ִ໋🌷͙֒ "I cannot make speeches, Emma... If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more." ᥫ᭡

What I love most about *Emma. is that everyone ends up with someone. No one is left behind. And honestly, if you’re watching it for the first time, you probably won’t fully guess who Emma and Harriet are going to end up with* — the film plays with that in a really fun way. It wasn’t until my third rewatch that I finally caught the subtle longing looks Frank and Jane give each other. The cuts are so well done that it seems like Frank is looking at Emma — and Emma thinks so too — but when you notice it, it changes everything. It’s so clever.**

I know some people say the story would’ve been more satisfying if Emma stayed unmarried, and honestly, I kind of get that. Both “versions” work for me. But I actually love that she ends up with someone who doesn’t just “let” her care for her dad — he’s someone who actively makes sure she can. That’s what Emma wanted most: to stay home, by her father, and the life she built. And she gets it, all of it.
⌣🍒﹒It’s just a perfect little movie. ִֶָ𓂃 ࣪˖ ִֶ
